The Audiophonics MPA-S250NCX XLR is a stereo amplifier based on an amplification module Hypex Ncore NCx252MP. This solution is ideal for anyone who wants to have a large power reserve (2x150W) without sacrificing sound reproduction quality. This amplifier block will be suitable for example to accompany demanding speakers, to sound large listening rooms or for studio applications requiring a large headroom without compromising the accuracy and richness of the audio message.

All components are integrated in a simple and robust 100% Aluminium housing with openings to facilitate heat dissipation. Its design also allows it to limit the impact of interference on the signal.

Hypex Ncore NCx252MP Amplification Board

The amplification circuit uses a module Hypex Ncore NCx252MP. It is a versatile, high-performance Class D amplifier. It offers a very comfortable power of 2x150W at 8Ω while taking advantage of the high efficiency of Class D amplifiers.

Its main characteristics are its flat frequency response regardless of load impedance, its almost frequency-independent level of distortion and its ability to reject EMI interference. Its operation is based on a self-oscillating loop controlled by phase shift and taking into account feedback only at the speaker output.

SMPS Power Supply

The NCx252MP module also integrates the amplification stage. This consists of a regulated half-bridge switching power supply (SMPS) with synchronous rectification on the main output rails. Compact, powerful and efficient, this power supply is particularly suitable for supplying a Class D amplifier cleanly.

In addition, to offer complete compatibility with the voltages delivered by the various electrical networks, the power supply is equipped with an automatic input voltage doubler. The NCx252MP module also has an overload protection system.

Connectivity

The MPA-S250NCX amplifier has a 3-pole stereo XLR input on Neutrik NC3FAV2 sockets. The amplifier output is made on Elecaudio BP-209 24k gold-plated speaker terminals. They also accept banana plugs or forks for quick and easy connections. A 5-12V trigger connector in 3.5mm Jack format allows to control the automatic ignition of the amplifier when integrated in a compatible system. Finally, a bistable button allows the device to be switched on.
