The Audio-GD HE1 MK3 is a Class A preamplifier designed to manage and adapt the signal prior to a power amplifier. It is based on a fully discrete and balanced architecture, which minimises internal interactions whilst maintaining a direct signal path without coupling capacitors. This design incorporates a 100-step relay-controlled volume control and an internal regenerative power supply, to stabilise operating conditions and ensure precise level adjustment without altering the signal structure.
The HE1 MK3 is based on a fully discrete Class A topology, configured in a fully balanced design to ensure consistent signal transmission throughout the entire signal path. The absence of operational amplifiers and coupling capacitors extends this approach by eliminating potential points of failure. This structure, with no negative feedback, favours direct and stable operation, resulting in signal continuity even at low signal levels.
Designed for high-fidelity systems, it combines volume control via controlled relays with current-driven output, allowing the source level to be adjusted without altering the source’s circuitry. This approach is complemented by a strict separation of circuits, ensuring consistent performance whilst facilitating integration into balanced setups.

The HE1 MK3 features an internal analogue regenerative power supply that reconstructs a dedicated mains waveform, isolating the audio stages from mains interference. This regeneration relies on R-core transformers and high filtering capacitance, ensuring stable operating conditions.

The integration of tube stages is based on a design that employs no active control or negative feedback, prioritising stable bias and AC filament power supply in order to minimise stress on the components. This approach relies on passive components sized to operate within their linear range, thereby maintaining a progressive response without artificial correction. It results in signal continuity during micro-variations, whilst maintaining operational consistency with the current-based architecture of the rest of the circuit.
