The SMSL PL200 MK2 is an audiophile CD player that also functions as a USB DAC, digital interface, headphone amplifier, and bidirectional Bluetooth transmitter/receiver. It is equipped with an ESS ES9039Q2M DAC, an XMOS XU-316 USB interface supporting PCM streams up to 32bit / 768kHz, native DSD512, MQA, and MQA-CD playback. Its top-loading CD mechanism is paired with a magnetic CD clamp that minimizes vibrations to improve reading accuracy while also allowing playback with the lid open. Connectivity includes a USB-C input, optical and coaxial inputs, Bluetooth 5.1 reception and transmission supporting LDAC, aptX HD, aptX Adaptive, aptX, AAC, and SBC codecs, as well as RCA and balanced XLR analog outputs configurable as either Line Out or Preamplifier outputs. The headphone section features a proprietary PLFC amplifier circuit capable of delivering up to 2 x 1.5W into 16Ω, with both 6.35mm single-ended and 4.4mm balanced headphone outputs. The entire unit is housed in a robust CNC-machined aluminum chassis, complemented by a laminated IPS display protected by glass and a completely redesigned user interface.
