SMSL VMV T2 CD Player

The SMSL VMV T2 is part of the brand's high-end product range. It's an MQA CD player that also acts as a digital interface, and features an optimized clock system. It is equipped with a P.A.S.S (Precison Access Servo System) playback system that natively supports MQA-CD. The SMSL VMV T2 also supports high-resolution PCM 32bit 768kHz and DSD512 streams, as well as full MQA decoding on some of its digital inputs. In fact, its USB-C and AES/EBU inputs supporting MQA enable it to act as a true MQA decoder. It also features an I2S output via HDMI, two AES/EBU outputs, as well as a Toslink optical output and a coaxial SPDIF output. There's also an external clock input and a clock output that can be directly connected to a DAC for excellent precision in your system. A Qualcomm QCC5125 chip also makes it a high-definition Bluetooth 5.1 receiver, with support for the following codecs: aptX, aptX HD and LDAC (24bit 96kHz).

Difference between SMSL PL200 and VMV T2 CD players

The VMV T2, unlike the PL200, features I2S and AES digital outputs, as well as a complete interface for external clock and a digital processor. The PL200's only advantage is its analog outputs.

SMSL VMV T2: clock alignment

The integrated clock alignment function enables the reconstruction of the clock of 44.1kHz and 48kHz audio recordings, for a marked improvement in the depth of the final sound reproduction of CDs and 44.1kHz and 48kHz recordings.

SMSL VMV T2: clock input and output

An external clock input lets you connect a 44.1MHz clock, a 10MHz stantard clock or an atomic clock to the SMSL VMV T2. An output is also available for connecting the SMSL VMV T2 clock directly to a DAC, for example. The impedance of the clock input can be set to 50 ohms or 75 ohms.
