Find here a selection of useful and/or essential accessories for this product. These are specially selected by the Audiophonics team according to the characteristics of the product.
To be used, this product must be combined with ESS SABRE 90X8 controller, or to the MONITORPI PRO Control center.
An output stage must also be added.
Ian Canada 9038Q2M dual mono DAC HAT is a very high level of DAC for Raspberry Pi. It uses two chips ES9038Q2M SABRE 32-bit each working in mono. That is to say that each of these chips uses 100% of its computing power for a single channel of the stereophonic signal for a sound restitution of exceptional clarity.
The ES9038Q2M Dual Mono DAC is remarquable because of its lack of output stage: This module is made exclusively for performing digital / analog conversion quality. It must be connected to an output stage that can be selected from existing compatible components or self-assembled according to your own specifications.
In other words: DAC Ian Canada Raspberry Pi is a hyper efficient DAC (double 9038Q2M), which imposes no particular output stage to the makers. They can then freely meditate the best integration strategy depending on the type of project solutions, budget and compliances.
*To use the Audiophonics I-SABRE driver with your Rasberry PI, invoke the driver from /boot/config.txt with the command line dtoverlay=i-sabre-q2m or select the "i-sabre-q2m" driver from your Pi-based streaming solution.
Dual Mono DAC Pi employs two DAC chip ES9038Q2M. It is not only ESS flagship product, it is also one of the best current material solutions for high-fidelity digital audio decoding.
It uses famous architecture HyperStream 32 BIT 768kHz and a support native DSD 1024. Dac chips are also equipped with advanced reconstruction filters and have an excellent finesse in dithering.
The basic module is powered by three separate power supply units. These form the symmetrical power supply stage, which is responsible for supplying each of the DAC chips with clean power. The DVCC, FCCA and AVCC rails are isolated. It is therefore possible to supply them independently with 3.3V / 100mA (minimum) for optimum performance, or to bridger them to use only one power supply. It is recommended to supply the DAC directly with 3.3V supercapacitor modules or LiFePO4 batteries, to obtain the best possible sound reproduction.
The 9038Q2MPi consumes about 50mA on average, with the MCLK 50MHz in asynchronous mode (default).
The module can use its own internal clock 100MHz (asynchronous) and can work with an external clock (synchronous) of 22.5792MHz to 98.3040MHz. Properly used, this second mode offers unmatched performance from the viewpoint of jitter. It will therefore naturally favored by the most discerning audiophiles.
When used in synchronous MCLK guide (e.g. mounted on a FifoPi with galvanic isolation and removable clocks), this dual DAC Mono 9038Q2M operates from an external clock signal. In other words, it is very easy to inject a clocks signal without requiring direct circuit modification (just use a jumper to enable / disable async mode).
Note, however, that to enjoy the SYNC mode in all its qualities, it is necessary to set the bandwidth of the digital phase locked loop (DPLL). This operation requires an ESS controller (like the ECCS, specially designed for this or any driver capable of editing the register of a ESS9038Q2M chip).
If the use of a ESS controller is perfect for fine-tuning the DAC chips (the controller Ian Canada FifoPi the same manufacturer allow the module to work TrueSync mode), there are plenty of upgrades that can be done by the user.
Depending on your goals you may :
- Install a FiFoPi / Isolator between Raspberry Pi and DAC
- If you can not work with a reclocker (FifoPi), the clock on the DAC itself is removable.
- Install an ESS controller to change the DAC settings on the fly
- Customize the powering system to improve audio performance.
- Install an output stage suitable for your installation, its constraints and your personal preferences
Only the DAC module is delivered. Accessories and other HAT modules are not supplied and must be purchased separately.
