The Silkline Zuki III is a balanced DAC based on a combination of two Analog Device AD1955 analog conversion chips and an XMOS XU-208 USB interface. This configuration allows it to support sampling rates up to PCM 32-bit 192kHz with the possibility of 8x oversampling up to 768kHz for a most enjoyable listening experience. It also incorporates audiophile-grade OPAs, including low-noise Burr Brown OPA2134PA with the speed and sound quality of JFETS. The whole unit is powered by an ALTERA MAX II CPLD, which optimizes jitter. Moreover, it features an attractive display on the front panel and a comprehensive remote control that allows you to control all of the Zuki III's functions for a simplified user experience. In terms of connectivity, it is quite complete with a USB-B input, three Toslink optical inputs, three coaxial SPDIF inputs, an AES/EBU input, as well as an RCA output and a balanced XLR output.
Each channel of the Silkline Zuki III has its own dedicated AD1955 DAC chip for fully balanced signal conversion. This effectively eliminates interference to deliver a clean signal to the amplifier. This fully balanced operation also offers improved dynamics, reaching 123dB. The signal input to the Zuki III is via an XMOS XU-208 USB interface or a Cirrus Logic SPDIF optical interface for stable processing upstream of the conversion performed by the DAC.
The AD1955 DAC chips in the Silkline Zuki III also offer 8x oversampling, which pushes noise and distortion beyond the audible range of the human ear and achieves an SNR of 120dB. This process does not add any new musical information, but it facilitates digital and analog signal processing. In addition to eliminating noise and distortion and improving jitter, it allows for the use of a much smoother and more gradual analog output filter for greater signal transparency and a much cleaner, smoother, and more detailed overall sound.
