The SMSL VMV D2R is a top-of-the-range DAC, offering very high performance thanks to its meticulous design and carefully selected components. In particular, it is equipped with an excellent ROHM BD34301 conversion chip and a XMOS XU316 USB interface, guaranteeing rich, precise sound reproduction. It's also a particularly versatile model that will fit in with the vast majority of audio systems thanks to its complete connectivity, and even wireless connectivity with an on-board Bluetooth 5.1 receiver.
The ROHM BD34301 digital-to-analog conversion chip is the brand's most powerful model, with THD+N measured at -117dB! It ensures efficient decoding for rich, precise and clear sound reproduction. It also supports high-resolution audio signals, both PCM and DSD.
The SMSL VMV D2R's USB-B input uses a 3rd-generation XMOS XU-316 interface. Capable of high-performance decoding and in association with the device's ROHM BD34301 DAC chip, this USB input lets you enjoy high-resolution audio streams up to PCM 32bit 768kHz and DSD512.
In addition to its excellent DAC and USB interface, the VMV D2R benefits from an overall design featuring numerous high-end, high-performance components. These include a proprietary CK-03 clock circuit with Accusilicon oscillators for minimal jitter, an ultra-low-noise on-board linear power supply with multiple voltage regulators and a Noratel toroidal transformer, as well as a host of discrete components.
The SMSL VMV D2R benefits from an MQA (Master Quality Authenticated) decoder, enabling it to read this type of file, guaranteeing sound quality as close as possible to that of a studio recording. These files are approved directly by the artist, the record company or the rights holders, and offer a particularly faithful reproduction.
In addition to its comprehensive and versatile connectivity, the VMV D2R features a Bluetooth 5.1 receiver using a Qualcomm chip. This makes it possible to stream music wirelessly from a smartphone, for example. What's more, the device supports high-resolution aptX, aptX HD and LDAC codecs for high quality wireless sound.

The SMSL VMV D2R boasts a sublime CNC-machined aluminum enclosure, giving it a modern yet luxurious aesthetic. Its front panel features a beautiful color display, protected by a sturdy tempered glass pane. The D2R also comes with an all-aluminum remote control for convenient remote control.
