The Topping DX1 II is a DAC and headphone amplifier based on an ESS ES9039Q2M conversion architecture combined with an XMOS XU316 interface, designed to deliver precise digital reproduction and controlled amplification in a compact form factor. It supports PCM streams up to 384kHz and DSD256, whilst delivering 0.00007% distortion and a dynamic range of 128 dB, utilising a low-noise design with minimal crosstalk to preserve signal integrity throughout the entire system.
It combines four-channel balanced amplification delivering up to 2x1000mW under 32Ω with a configurable 10-band equaliser, allowing you to fine-tune the sound reproduction to suit your equipment and personal preferences.
The Topping DX1 II features an ES9039Q2M DAC chip paired with an XMOS XU316 USB interface, enabling it to process PCM streams up to 384kHz and DSD256 whilst ensuring stable digital data transmission. This architecture is based on low-distortion conversion (0.00007% THD+N) and a dynamic range of 128dB, ensuring precise reproduction of subtle details whilst maintaining an extremely low noise level; added to this is a crosstalk figure of -140 dB, contributing to precise channel separation and a stable stereo image.

The DX1 II features a 10-band equaliser accessible via the TOPPING Home web interface, allowing for fine-tuning of the frequency response whilst enabling the saving and sharing of user profiles, making it easy to adapt to different headphones or sound signatures. This approach is extended by compatibility with the TOPPING Tune software locally, offering direct control of equalisation settings without relying on a network interface.

The DX1 II features a USB-C interface that combines both power and audio signals, thereby minimising the number of connections whilst reducing the risk of unwanted ground loops. This focus on compatibility is extended with a switchable UAC 1.0 and 2.0 mode, allowing use with a variety of sources, including games consoles, whilst ensuring immediate device recognition, while the 3.5 mm TRRS headphone output extends compatibility to headsets by integrating microphone signal management.
The amplifier stage is based on a four-channel architecture that enables a balanced topology, resulting in better channel separation and reduced internal interference. It delivers up to 2 x 1000 mW under 32 Ω via 3.5 mm and 4.4 mm jack outputs, enabling it to drive a wide variety of headphones whilst maintaining a stable dynamic headroom, whilst the two-stage gain control adapts the amplification behaviour to the sensitivity of the drivers.
