This double mono amplifier module offers a very classic design, using proven schematics that marked the glorious 1970s of HiFi.

The streamlined schematic offers possibilities of modifications and improvements for experienced amateurs who are familiar with this type of pure Class A schematic. Each module is based on a pair of MJ15025G transistors and a MJ15024G transistor, in order to develop a power of 2x15W under 8Ω and a musical restitution, characterized by a melodic, warm and structured sound.

Mounted on an Aluminum bracket, these modules can be easily mounted on a heat sink (sold separately), in order to efficiently evacuate the heat released by the transistors.

These modules will need to be combined with high quality power supply components for efficient and long-lasting operation. They are therefore aimed at people with a good knowledge of electronic circuitry for measuring quiescent voltages, for example. A minimum 160V transformer with a secondary voltage of 12 to 18V AC will be required.

This amplifier is delivered without filter capacitors (maximum diameter of 30mm).

If you wish to use this amplifier on compression chambers, it will be necessary to provide an anti-pop delay for your loudspeakers.

Adjusting the modules

These modules require two settings for proper operation.

Step 1: Mounting the filter capacitors
Install the filter capacitors first, according to your choice and your needs.

Step 2: Voltage adjustment at VDD/2
Measure the voltage at the external terminals of the diode bridge. Then use the "Offset" potentiometer to obtain half of the voltage measured on the diode bridge. The measurement is made between the GND terminal and the + of the 4700µF capacitor.

Step 3: Setting the quiescent current
Remove the soldering point under the board, indicated by the words "Test J". Place an ammeter between the two "Test J" points. Adjust the potentiometer marked "Quiescent current" to 1.2A. You can then put the soldering point between the two "Test J" points again.

Note: For a precise setting, you can successively repeat these two settings, as they interfere with each other. These settings must be made at the Class A operating temperature.

Bon produit
Petit kit assez qualitatif. Alimenté par un transfo en 2x20v, aucun soucis de réglage de la tension et du courant de repos, mais qui nécessite à minima 2 appareils de mesure pour être vraiment précis, car tension et intensité varient beaucoup lors du réglage.
Au fait, il est dit de prendre réglage de la tension à VDD/2 au condensateur 4700µF, qui en fait fait 6800uF sur les modules reçus. Une petite amélioration : Une borne sur le dessus pour prendre cette tension, et un porte fusible en série avec un fusible de 1,2A seraient un bon point. Merci Audiophonics, maintenant il ne me reste plus qu'à l'écouter.

J'ai acquis cet historique et mythique ampli, il y aura bientôt un an déjà. Surpris dès sa mise en service, et avec une alimentation et filtrage largement dimensionnés, cet ampli s'est montré depuis vraiment extraordinaire, simple, puissant et précis je ne l'ai jamais pris en défaut. Il exige de très bons haut-parleurs et des enceintes de bon rendement. La puissance annoncée parait modeste mais à l'écoute ce sont de vrais watts puissants, détaillés, une scène sonore d'une réelle précision, Patricia Barber, Diana Krall, Bach aux mains d'Alexandre Tharaud des variations Goldberg exquises, Grégory Porter est là, sa voix puissante est rendue merveilleusement. L'ampli nécessite un budget certain en périphérie, mais l'ensemble est hautement pertinent de l'avis d'amis exigeants. Il a été testé chez eux sur des Rogers et sur des Focal, les essais ont provoqué l'étonnement.

Quel son !
Je l ai monté en deux blocs avec de grosse alim et deux geous dissipateur et C est parti. Cet ampli est magique... Clair musical détaillé réaliste beaucoup de grave de la dynamique.. Je suis complètement sous le charme. Il drive les enceintes même a moins de 90db...vraiement surprenant. Audiophile assurément

Très bien
Un montage actualisé du mythique JLHood.Classe A pur sucre. PCB double face de bon aspect. La cornière alu anodisée permet de greffer aisément les dissipateurs. Nécessité absolue double grosse alimentation et dissipateurs de chaleur, le thermocouple indique entre 65 & 70°. Ma configuration est en transfo torique 12V, sortie alim ~17V redressés filtrés. Prévoir de changer les 2 résistances ajustables et remplacer par une 2,2 K ohm la 1 K, et par une 220 K ohm la 100 k. Le courant de repos et la tension V/2 sont alors parfaitement réglables. Eu égard aux prix des 2 petits ampèremètres chinois (3A), je suggère l'achat d'une paire laissée à demeure sur le circuit d'alimentation, juste après le fusible rapide calibré sur la valeur du courant de repos choisi. 8 watts, oui, mais des vrais bien propres, la scène sonore est large, hyper détaillée, pas de distorsion.

Good product
A Class A transistor amplifier as a kit can only be found at Audiophonics. A very good and cheap product. Unfortunately, there is no data sheet with information about the size of the cooling surface and the adjustment of the quiescent current. Therefore only 4 points.
