HYPEX SMPS400A100 Switching Power Supply Module

The Hypex SMPS400A100 is a high-efficiency safety class 2 switching power supply designed for use with UcD™ amplifier modules. This device is intended for audio applications that require a compact form factor, low weight, and a stable power supply across a wide load range.

The power supply includes an overcurrent protection mechanism that reduces the output voltage in the event of a temporary overload. If the overload persists, the power supply switches to “hiccup” mode and remains in this state until the overload is resolved. This behavior, combined with the use of high-capacity electrolytic buffer capacitors, enables the supply of short-term peak power to the connected amplifier module.

The SMPS400 features an isolated auxiliary power supply and a control interface designed to work with UcD amplifier modules. Built-in actuators enable the power supply to be activated during normal operation or disconnected in the event of a failure.

The SMPS400 is designed to minimize electromagnetic interference. Its topology and layout are optimized to meet the EMI requirements typically associated with professional audio applications.

The SMPS400 supports a selectable input voltage range, allowing it to operate with different mains power specifications. The device is therefore suitable for use in international applications where electrical grid standards vary.

The SMPS400, which is a two-quadrant full-bridge rectifier, is capable of powering asymmetric Class D amplifiers.

The SMPS400 complies with current safety and performance standards and is certified for use in professional audio equipment.
