This Dayton Audio BR-1 kit allows you to build your own Hi-Fi bookshelf speakers. They are based around a DC160-8 bass driver and a DC28FL-8 silk dome tweeter. Once assembled, the bookshelf speakers admit a maximum power of 100W under 8Ω with a frequency response of 43Hz to 18kHz.

This kit comes with an assembly manual and, although simple to assemble, it requires basic soldering skills, particularly for the crossover section.

Please note: This kit does not include the cabinet.


This kit includes:

  • 2 Dayton Audio DC160-8 woofers
  • 2 DC28F-8 tweeter speaker
  • 2 BR-1XO crossover filters
  • 2 Non-polarised capacitors 47 µF-100 V
  • 2 DFFC-0.10 bypass capacitors 0.10 µF 400 V
  • 2 Non-inductive resistors DNR-8.0 8Ω 10 W
  • 2 DMPC-3.0 polypropylene capacitors 3.0 µF 250 V
  • 2 Air core coils 0.4 mH 20 AWG
  • 1.8m of 16 AWG speaker cable
