With its EH1, Shanling unveils a compact, high-performance desktop DAC with a modern design. It embeds a Cirrus Logic CS43198 DAC chip, enabling it to support high-resolution sampling rates up to PCM 32bit 768kHz and native DSD up to DSD512. Headphone amplification relies on two SGM8262-2 OPAs and gain control for output power of up to 2x1015mW into 32 ohm on its balanced jack 4.4mm headphone output. The EH1 is therefore able to drive a wide range of headphones and earphones available on the market.
The interface features the essentials, with a USB input and a stereo RCA output, but a host of additional functions make the EH1 a DAC of choice, such as bass and treble tone control, UAC1.0 protocol support and a coaxial SPDIF digital output. To top it all off, two operating modes, Line-out or Pre-out, are available for the RCA output. This allows the Shanling EH1 to be used with a power amplifier, active speakers, preamplifier or integrated amplifier, for example.

The EH1 benefits from audiophile components offering a superior level of performance. Indeed, the CS43198 DAC chip offers a SNR of 122dB and a distortion level of just 0.0004%, as well as enabling conversion of high-resolution sampling rates up to PCM 32bit 768kHz and DSD512. Added to this are two SGM8262-2 OPAs driving the two single-ended 6.35mm jack and balanced 4.4mm jack headphone outputs, each offering a maximum output power of 2x399mW and 2x1015mW into 32 ohm respectively. The result is a clean, dynamic and powerful sound for pleasant headphone listening.

The EH1 can convert digital signals from its USB input to a coaxial SPDIF output. This makes it ideal for pairing with other Hi-Fi devices, such as a vintage DAC or active speakers.

The EH1 can be used as a DAC only with pre-out mode, or as a preamplifier with line-out mode. Output mode selection is simply made via a switch.

Two potentiometers on the front panel of the EH1 control the bass and treble tones. Adjustment is +/-6dB for bass and +/-10dB for treble.

In particular, compatibility with USB UAC1.0 protocol means you can connect your favorite game consoles to the EH1, such as the Nintendo Switch, and enjoy a more immersive gaming experience.
The EH1's main volume control knob is surrounded by a color LED indicator showing the sampling rate currently being processed by the device.

The Shanling EH1 lets you choose between power supply via its USB-C input for greater simplicity, or power supply via its DC 5V jack port for greater stability.
