The LADDER CHOPIN is a fully discrete and balanced R2R line preamplifier, operating in pure Class A, designed to provide precise and transparent control of the analog signal in stereo Hi-Fi systems. Its fully balanced differential architecture is combined with a 60-step relay volume attenuator, controlled by a microprocessor and equipped with precisely matched resistors to ensure excellent channel matching. The CHOPIN features 2 XLR inputs and 1 RCA input, as well as XLR and RCA outputs, allowing it to be integrated with various sources and power amplifiers. Its power supply is based on a 65W toroidal transformer combined with several independent regulated power supplies and high-end capacitors. With unity gain of 0dB, a frequency response of 10Hz to 80kHz (-0.3dB), THD+N below 0.0006%, a signal-to-noise ratio of 120dB and a dynamic range greater than 121dB, the LADDER CHOPIN is a compact solution designed for demanding two-channel audio systems.
The LADDER CHOPIN replaces the traditional potentiometer with a 60-step relay attenuator controlled by a microprocessor. This architecture allows precise volume adjustment while maintaining excellent channel matching across the entire volume range. The resistors used are precisely matched to preserve stereo balance and minimize distortion. The fully discrete analog circuit operates in pure Class A and uses a fully balanced differential topology. The CHOPIN therefore provides unity gain operation (0dB), an input impedance of 60kΩ in balanced mode and 12.2kΩ in unbalanced mode, as well as an output impedance of 400Ω in balanced mode and 200Ω in unbalanced mode.
The LADDER CHOPIN features two balanced XLR inputs and one unbalanced RCA input, while its outputs are available as balanced XLR and unbalanced RCA. The outputs reach 4.0 Vrms via XLR and 2.0 Vrms via RCA respectively, providing compatibility with various components in the Hi-Fi chain.
Its power supply uses a 65W toroidal transformer, combined with eight regulated power supplies and ERSE capacitors to provide stable power to the analog circuits. The preamplifier is housed in an aluminum alloy chassis measuring 336 × 374 × 66mm, with a net weight of 6.5kg. A remote control is also included, allowing remote control of power, input selection, mute function, and volume.
