The Raspberry Pi Compute Module 5 is a System-on-Module (SOM) based on the Raspberry Pi 5 architecture, designed for integration into embedded and industrial systems requiring high computing power in a compact form factor. It is based on the Broadcom BCM2712 SoC, combining four Cortex-A76 cores clocked at 2.4GHz, while incorporating 8GB of RAM and 16GB of eMMC storage, to provide a consistent hardware base for applications demanding processing power and stability. This modular architecture isolates essential computing and memory functions, enabling targeted integration without the mechanical and electrical constraints of a traditional monobloc board.
Designed for customised embedded installations, the CM5 interfaces via two high-density 100-pin connectors, allowing extended I/O access via a dedicated carrier board. This approach allows connectivity (display, storage, networking, specialised peripherals) to be precisely tailored to the needs of the end system, while maintaining close software compatibility with the Raspberry Pi ecosystem. This structural flexibility positions Compute Module 5 as a central computing core for sustainable embedded solutions, ranging from digital signage to control and automation systems.
